When your experience isn’t translating

Your experience may be stronger than the case you’re making for it.

You can explain what you’re responsible for. But when someone asks why you’re ready for a bigger role, it becomes harder to explain what changed because of your work.

Your résumé lists responsibilities. Your LinkedIn reflects your current title. Your interview answers cover what happened, but don’t always make your contribution clear.

Then the salary conversation arrives, and you’re unsure how to support the number you have in mind.

Start by finding out which problem you actually need to solve.

That may mean changing how you present your work. It may also mean choosing a different target, closing an experience gap, or preparing more thoroughly for a particular opportunity.

You don’t need to turn yourself into someone else.

You need to understand what your experience supports and make that evidence easier to see.

Start with what you need to accomplish

You don’t need to know which coaching service to buy before you know where your progress is stopping.

Interview preparation

Make your contribution clear when the conversation matters.

You know the work. Now you need to explain it to someone deciding whether to hire you.

Prepare to discuss what the role requires. Select examples that demonstrate your judgment, and explain the results of your decisions without losing the interviewer in detail.

Your goal
Relevant examples you can explain naturally, rather than a script you have to remember.

Compensation and offer support

Know what you’re asking for before you negotiate.

An offer gives you a decision to make.

Understand the responsibilities and compensation being proposed. Identify your priorities. Prepare the evidence behind your request and the questions you still need answered.

Your goal
Respond deliberately, rather than accept or reject an offer before you understand it.
Your support
Compensation positioning, negotiation preparation, and offer discussion.

Leadership Ascend Academy

One career move.
Support that connects the work.

Your next move can involve several connected decisions.

Which roles make sense for you? What evidence supports your readiness? Does your professional profile tell the same story you intend to tell in an interview? What would make an offer worth accepting?

Leadership Ascend Academy is the career-coaching route for working on the move as a whole.

  1. 01

    Choose your target.

Clarify the responsibility you want and the experience needed to support that ambition.

  2. 02

    Build your evidence.

Identify the decisions you made, the problems you addressed, and the results you can substantiate.

  3. 03

    Carry it into your search.

Connect your résumé, LinkedIn, professional conversations, and interview preparation to the same target.

  4. 04

    Prepare for the decision.

Understand the opportunity and make your case for appropriate compensation and scope.

You shouldn’t have to choose a collection of disconnected services before understanding your next move.

These describe connected areas of career work, not a fixed curriculum or a promise that every participant needs every component.

An HR-informed perspective

Build your case with the employer’s decision in mind.

Your experience needs to be understood by someone making a hiring decision, assessing responsibility, or discussing compensation.

Gurpreet’s professional background includes recruitment, compensation benchmarking, job evaluation, and salary structures.

For you, the work is practical: explain what you can contribute, support it with evidence, and understand the questions your next employer needs answered.

  • Your experience

What have you done that is relevant to the opportunity you’re pursuing?

  • Your contribution

What changed because of your work, and what evidence supports that?

  • Your next decision

What do you need to understand before choosing the role or accepting the offer?

The right fit matters

Choose coaching for the work you’re prepared to do.

This may fit your situation.

You have experience you can examine and discuss. You’re considering a career move, or need help identifying one. And you’re prepared to work on your case, practise your conversations, and use feedback.

You may need a narrower starting point.

You need help with one application, one interview, or one immediate offer. A focused service may be more relevant than a broader programme, subject to availability.

You may be looking for something different.

You need someone to secure employment on your behalf, guarantee an employer’s decision, or remove the need for your participation. Get clear about that need before purchasing coaching.

Your first conversation

Start with your situation.
Not a package.

Your free career audit gives you a place to discuss your background, your target, and where progress is stopping.

  1. Choose your time and share your background.

Provide your career details and the roles you’re considering through the booking process.

  2. Review your report before the call.

The published audit offer includes a pre-call report. Read it and note the questions you want to discuss.

  3. Use the hour to discuss your next move.

Discuss the gap between your current position and your target, including whether paid coaching fits your needs.

Questions before you begin

Get clear before you commit.

Your starting point matters. So do the expectations you bring to coaching.

Do you need a bigger job title before exploring leadership coaching?

Your title is one part of the discussion. Bring examples of the responsibilities you’ve held and the decisions you’ve made. Assess the case you can support rather than assume a larger title is automatically the right next step.

Do you need another certification first?

That depends on the role you’re targeting. Start by distinguishing a required qualification from a problem with how you’re presenting your existing experience.

What happens when your experience comes from another country?

Bring that experience into the assessment. Examine how it relates to the roles you’re pursuing, which requirements may differ, and what evidence would help explain your contribution.

What happens when you’ve already paid for résumé help or coaching?

Bring what you’ve already worked on. A useful assessment should identify what remains unresolved rather than assume everything needs replacing.

Can you get help with one immediate problem?

Use the service selector to identify the support you need. Standalone availability, scope, and pricing should be confirmed before you commit.

Is the career audit the same as joining the Academy?

No. The initial audit is free. Leadership Ascend Academy is a paid programme with a separate enrolment decision. The audit also explores whether that programme fits your needs.

What results should you expect?

Assess the programme against your starting point and target. Selected client accounts illustrate individual experiences; they do not establish what you will achieve. Review any programme-specific continuation terms separately.

What is the route for coaches, consultants, or organisations?

Use the business-coaching or session-enquiry links to contact Gurpreet on LinkedIn. These are separate enquiries from the career-audit booking route. Confirm available services and scope directly.

Make your next move with a case you can stand behind.

You’ve put years into building your experience. Now get clear about the work you want, the evidence you have, and the support that would help you move forward.
